The Casper Horseheads of the Expedition League today announced Matt Snyder as the team’s new General Manager.
Snyder arrives in Casper after serving as the Assistant General Manager for the Vallejo Admirals of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs, having been responsible for corporate sponsorship, ticket sales, community relations and promotion. Prior to that role, Snyder worked as the Director of Administration for the Empire Professional Baseball League, overseeing the construction of four separate front offices. During the course of his career Snyder has gained extensive experience in franchise operations, serving with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning and San Antonio Rampage (An affiliate of the Florida Panthers) organizations. Snyder began his career with the Atlantic City Surf of the Atlantic Baseball League. He also served as the Director of Business Operations with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL.
"I am incredibly excited by the opportunity that the Casper Horseheads present,” Snyder said. “The organization made phenomenal strides in our maiden season and I cannot wait to help the tram grow and become an even more integral part of the Casper community. I am very grateful to Chuck and Mayra Heeman for their faith in me and look forward to diving right in."
A graduate of Stetson University College of Law, Snyder worked as the Contract Administration Manager with the SEIU-FPSU, where he was responsible for contract negotiations, administration as well as grievance and arbitration representation, before embarking on a career in sports management that has spanned nearly 15 years.
“We’ve been looking for the right fit to bring in someone to be the local face of our franchise, and Matt is that guy,” Horseheads owner Chuck Heeman said. “He gets it in regards to what we want the Horseheads to be, not only as a business but as a community partner. Matt’s passion for community involvement, his great background in not just baseball but sports management in general, will become very evident very quickly here in Casper.”
Snyder will take over General Manager duties from Heeman and will lead the team’s sales, business and promotional efforts throughout the year.
“We’ve got the Horseheads launched and have been looking for some real front office talent. Now that we’re a year in and the Expedition League has made a name for itself, we’ve seen some of that talent come our way and we were fortunate to have some great candidates for this position,” Heeman said. “Once Mayra and I had our conversations with Matt we knew he was the right person. Between Matt in the front office and Scott Stover as our Head Coach, the Horseheads are now going in the direction we’d dreamed of a year ago.”
Snyder will arrive in Casper by September 15 and will become a full-time resident of the city.
