CHEYENNE, Wyo. The increase only applies to civil and probate cases.
Civil cases will go up from 85 to 110 dollars and probate court fees will increase from 50 to 75 dollars.
If the bill becomes law, this will be the first filing fee increase since 2000.
"The purpose of that is to cover some of the operating expenses of the district court clerks, which right now are being paid by the county commissioners, so this will be a small increase." Said Representative Clark Stith of Sweetwater County.
Stith said the 25 dollar increase is consistent with inflation.
