State Lawmakers Look to Expand Wyoming's Economic Diversity

CASPER, Wyo. They discussed ways to get us off the boom and bust cycle at Friday joint committee on minerals, business, and economic development meeting.

Topics included creating a 20-year economic vision.

One legislator says UW is a place to start.

"The University is a potential source of entrepreneurship and innovation and we're trying to move in that direction...we've established new programs that really encourage that type of startup mentality," said Senator Chris Rothfuss of Albany County.

Rothfuss says one solution is to tax major industries similar to how we tax oil and mineral extraction.
