CASPER, Wyo. Commissioners approved the 2018 international fire code at Tuesday's meeting.
However, the commission did leave out fire officials request for an operation permit requirement.
It would have forced businesses handling hazardous materials to get permits from the fire protection district.
Businesses handling large amounts of hazardous materials would have also had to pay got the permit and inspection, which would have cost hundreds of dollars.
"The intent for the permitting was to allow us to have a little more control over permits that we issue and to generate a little revenue." Said Chued Bob Fawcett of the Natrona County Fire Protection District.
Commissioners will re-examine adopting the permits next year.
Fawcett says the money generated from permits would be spent on operational cost.
