Whether you're in high school, coming up on graduation or have just started college, Natrona County deputies will host an open house for anyone between the ages of 15 and 20 to learn about their cadets program.
A first step for anyone interested in a career as an officer, the program gives participants the opportunity to get a "real" feel of deputies' jobs.
Getting the chance to shadow deputies in the field, go on ride alongs, building searches and more.
"It's proactive. I mean we've hired several cadets over the years. It gives the opportunity for the law enforcement and the youths to get involved with one another," said Sgt. Aaron Shatto.
Those interested in taking part must pass certain qualifications including:
Having no serious offenses, maintaining good moral character, passing an interview process and written test and maintaining a 2.0 GPA or higher for high school students.
Participants must be able to attend regular meetings on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. and be able to help with community events and crime prevention endeavors.
The open house takes place next Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, 201 North David St. 2nd Floor
