Lower Gas Prices Hints To Good New For Casper Tourism

National gas prices are currently at an average of over $2 a gallon.
Lower gas prices are great news for us here in Casper.

“You know, I think it's a really positive thing. So what we know when gas prices drop is that consumers have more discretionary income, so they are able to spend a bit more money in retail, restaurants and hotels. So it really does a lot to boost consumer confidence, and they are willing to spend a little bit more money to move around,” said Brook Kreder, the Casper Area Convention Visitors Bureau CEO.

Local business owners getting a sweet deal out of lowered prices.
This price drop also couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I think there’s a perfect mix of things going on and I think its because of good weather, low gas prices, and an improving economy. And those are all factors that build consumer confidence, which is translating to more travel. So lower gas prices absolutely equate to something very positive for tourism in Natrona County,” said Kreder.
But it’s not only tourism that’s seeing positive impacts from the low prices.

Many Casper residents are also out taking advantage of the money they can save at the pump.

“Bills kind of get in the way you know…if I have gas I got travel to Alcova or my home town, but with gas prices this low it make it really easy,” said Edward Schlager, a Casper resident.

“I put a lot of miles on for work and we do like to go up to the mountain quite a bit. We go out to the lake and we do take road trips. So, it really helps me out when the gas prices are low. I’d like them to stay that way but I know that's not possible,” said Rob McComas, another Casper Resident.
