Liquor License Ordinance Change

CASPER, Wyo. City council members passed an ordinance Tuesday requiring alcohol servers to undergo state-sanctioned training.

"This'll be a requirement, not only for the retail liquor establishments but for those who have a restaurant liquor license., bar and grill licenses, even some of the big-box stores around town need to be attentive if they servers who are dispensing alcohol." Said John Henley, the Casper City Attorney.

And license holders agree this is the right way to keep us safe.

"It gives your people knowledge of how to do things and how to them right. It also keeps us away from an overserving ordinance that would have been detrimental, I believe, to all of the local establishments." Said Mike Reid of Poplar Wine and Spirits co-owner.

And he does not look at it as a burden on his business.

"The tips training is free. The chief's training is free. All you've got to do is send your people to it. There is no burden to it. You should look at it as a blessing, not a burden."

Penalties for non-compliance range from fines to eventually council members suspending one's liquor license.
