Fallen Heroes' family asks for help

A fallen hero's family looks for help.

Staff Sergeant Jason Shipton died on October 28 after a seven-year battle with brain cancer. He was 37.

His widow, Amanda Shipton, and three sons look for help to stay financially afloat.

They were living off Jason's disability benefits from the VA, which they will no longer receive.

Amanda's sister, Meagan Dye, set up a GoFundMe page to ask for donations from the community. Proceeds will go to Amanda and her kids.

"He gave all. He gave a lot for this country and this is the least that we can do for him. He was the rock for his family and if we can do this little bit to help his family get by...right now...so that my sister can eventually be that rock for her boys," Dye said.

Jason, who served multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, was medically discharged from the Marines following his diagnosis in 2011.
