Casper City Councilman Dallas Laird sent a surprising letter to Natrona County School Board members.
Laird has offered to donate the money to pay for two metal detectors, one for Natrona County High School and one for Kelly Walsh.
He says he will donate the funds if the board decides metal detectors need to be installed.
The local attorney says the cost could range between five and ten thousand dollars per unit and he is willing to work with the district when it comes to logistics. "I just want to take the first step in a long journey and get people thinking about what we have to do now to stop kids from being shot in schools, which is to keep the guns out of the schools" Laird says.
Natrona County School Board members have not yet responded to Laird's letter.
