More money was awarded for upcoming construction project this year than last.
Wyoming contractors met in Casper Wednesday to find out would take on construction projects in Wyoming for 2018.
There were five bids awarded for five projects around the state.
Each job was given to the lowest bidder who pre-qualified for the work before the bid letting.
In Wyoming, the company with the lowest bid and pre-qualified always gets the bid.
While fewer projects were given in 2016 compared to 2017 the numbers show bigger and more expensive ones have come to the state.
Doug Jensen WYDOT’s State Contracts and Estimates Engineer commented, “We actually have had more bidders in the last year. I think we had a little better projects to bid this year than the last years. Generally speaking in 2016 we had 107 projects that we let for a total of 267 million dollars. In 2017 we only let 99 projects but it was for 277 million dollars maybe a little bigger of projects that attracts more people."
These bid lettings occur once a month, the next taking place in Laramie.
