CASPER, Wyo. Casper Humane Society staff say they exceeded pet adoption expectations in 2018.
"We actually had a great year in 2018 we adopted out 617 animals and we took in 671 which was the highest number we had in quite a few years." Said Craig Cummings of the Casper Humane Society.
Of those animals, about 400 were old enough old enough to be spayed or neutered before going home.
"The other numbers would have been kittens or puppies that were too young and with those, we take a spay and neuter deposit at the time of adoption so ensure their adopters will get them spayed or neutered and then return that deposit." Said Cummings.
He says they are thankful for community support.
"We're fortunate to have a very generous community here in Casper all of our money comes from private donations and fundraisers we don't receive any city state or federal funding so the city of Casper keeps us open and keeps us able to do the work we do in the community," Said Cummings.
Staff said they've already had many kittens come into the shelter.
