The story today continues to be snow and its impacts to our early weekend travel. Technically, it is still falling over the Casper area. The activity is very light and any more accumulation is unlikely today. Casper Mountain however may see a couple more inches as long as the thick and low cloud layer remains today. Visibility is pretty much at zero over the mountain. All of our roads are slick, especially for Casper Mountain Rd. Up to a foot will be over the mountain when the event ends today.
All major roads are OPEN. However, I strongly discourage travel along I-25 from Cheyenne to Denver. I expect the Denver metro to receive up to a foot and a half of total accuulation.
-- Outlook --
TODAY: There is a break of the snow for SE Wyoming. Keep in mind that I-25 and I-80 will still be very slick drives while the heavy snow stops around Cheyenne. Another round of light-to-moderate snow should develop over the SE corner this afternoon with up to 4-8" locally through Saturday morning. Cheyenne is under a chance of 2-3 more inches with the bulk of that starting this evening.
SATURDAY: The snow will quickly end for the SE corner by Saturday morning. In fact, sunshine should begin to break out north-to-south with more highs reaching the upper 30's.
COMPLETE FORECAST: The strong upper low will make its way away from the front range of the Rockies by Friday afternoon. The long range forecast will feature a prolonged dry stretch through next week. Afternoon highs will also include many low 40's, first of which will be Sunday!
