Beware of On-line Used Car Sales

If you're in the market for a used car, Don't forget the old saying "buyer beware." The latest auto scam to hit the streets, posting phony car offers on popular websites. Criminals are re-posting real vehicle offers from sites like eBay Motors and Autotrader.com. The listings come complete with pictures and VIN numbers of actual cars. Many of these con artist scams also come complete with bogus stories of why they're selling the car so quickly.So when hunting for a used car, there's are a few things to keep in mind...

"Well you really need to look for people that are not willing to meet you in person. That won't let you look at the car before hand, that won't exchange cash or check for a title. They want you to send them Western Union or money to go in an escrow account. Those are red flags that your dealing with someone who probably doesn't have the car," says Jason Magnuson of Sam's Quality Motors.

Magnuson also say to beware of cars being sold with storm damage. Even if the interior looks good it's best to check under the hood for high water marks around the radiator and wheel wells.
