UW Hoping to Start Streak at Air Force

LARAMIE, Wyo. (January 29, 2010) — This Saturday afternoon, two old Rocky Mountain rivals will renew that rivalry on the basketball floor as the Wyoming Cowboys travel to Air Force for the 98th meeting in the series. The two teams will tip off at 1:30 p.m. from Air Force’s Clune Arena in a game televised live by The Mtn.
The Cowboys enter Saturday’s game with momentum after beating Utah this past Wednesday 75-69. With the win, the Pokes improved to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in the Mountain West Conference. However, they are still looking for their first road win of the season and are currently 0-5 on the road.
Air Force is currently enduring a six-game losing streak since the beginning of conference play. They are 8-11 overall and 0-6 in the league.

Wyoming’s Leaders:
With their leading scorer, sophomore Afam Muojeke, out for the remainder of the season, the Cowboys are currently led by sophomore A.J. Davis (10.9 ppg), sophomore Adam Waddell (10.8 ppg) and junior Djibril Thiam (10.2 ppg).
In MWC games, two Pokes have greatly increased their production. Sophomore JayDee Luster has increased his scoring average by 5.5 points a game and his assists by 1.6. Waddell has increased his scoring by 3.2 points and his rebounding by 3.0.

Air Force’s Leaders:
Air Force currently has three players averaging double figures in scoring. They include senior forward Grant Parker (15.0 ppg), junior guard Evan Washington (11.2 ppg) and junior forward Tom Fow (10.3 ppg). Parker is the Falcons’ leading rebounder (6.4 rpg) and Washington is their leading assist man (3.1 apg). Both Parker and Fow have missed time this season with injuries, but each played over 20 minutes this past Tuesday against UNLV.
