The city of Riverton’s 2013 Annual Report indicated a rise in police calls.
City Administrator Steven Weaver said Riverton received a lot of police calls for its size.
“They’ve gone up every year for the last couple years and I think we’re over 13,000 calls of services out of the police department,” said Weaver.
He said there was an increase of about 70 police calls from last year. The number one call for service is detox placements. This is when police take intoxicated people to the Center for Hope in Riverton to detox unless they have a warrant, become violent, or have not conformed previously at the Center for Hope.
Weaver said he hopes the increase in calls are because people feel comfortable calling the police.
