"When I was a kid everybody had a 22 and we even took them to school," Berkely Hotchkis, the Appleseed Shoot Boss said.
Project Appleseed is a weekend-long class where participants learn the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship.
And learning how to be an expert marksman is fun, but the course teaches you more about rifles than just how to shoot them.
"We started with the rifleman program as marksmanship and then we added the history because nobody is teaching all the history that occurred, especially back around the revolutionary war," Hotchkis said.
After each round of shooting, the instructors teach a brief lesson then everyone tries again.
Hotchkiss says it's rewarding watching his students progress.
