CASPER, WY - Sunday morning a rodent was pulled from his slumber to bring us his yearly weather prediction.
Punxsutawney Phil makes his big entrance every February 2nd at Gobbler's Knob, Pennsylvania.
Thousands of people gathered to see his weather prediction.
According to legend, if Phil sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter.
If he does not, there will be an early spring.
With sunnier conditions in Pennsylvania Sunday, Phil poked his head out and predicted a late winter.
"It's going to be winter regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil says I think. If the weather is like it has been lately, I think it'll be alright.” said Marsha Garcia of Casper
According to the national climate prediction center, Phil has forecasted a late a winter 101 times now and an early spring 17 times.
Punxsutawney Phil has been making weather predictions at Gobblers Knob since 1886.
This year marks the groundhog's 128th prediction.
In the past, Phil's predictions have only been 39% accurate.
We'll see if this year's early spring/late winter will hold out for him.
This year is the first time the Super Bowl coincides with Groundhog Day.
