Riverton City Council members voted on a new location for the Wednesday Farmers Market.
Community members had different opinions on the most recent location off Main St. on Broadway. The city had received both positive and negative responses about the event.
“The neighboring businesses shouldn’t be affected in any way,” said Farmers Market Manager Sherry Shelley.
Business owners said the sidewalk was left messy, it prohibited the flow of business because trucks could not pass, customers were restricted, and they feared emergency vehicles would have problems this summer because of main street construction. Others felt it was a good location. The new location is 422 East Main St.
Shelley said the advantages are pavement for people with wheel chairs and enough space for vendors.
