A man arrested at a Riverton bank and accused of kidnapping had his initial appearance in circuit court.
40-year-old Robert Afterbuffalo of Riverton was arrested for domestic battery, robbery, kidnapping, and a DUI.
“Those crimes that he’s been charged with occurred in the city of Riverton,” said Riverton Captain C.T. Smith.
Smith said Afterbuffalo was accused of kidnapping a woman on the Wind River Reservation and taking her to Riverton where he forced her to give him money by cashing a check at the First Interstate Bank drive-up location.
“A teller at the First Interstate Bank had received a check and written on the back was something consistent with ‘call 9-11 he’s going to kill me’ written on the back,” said Smith.
Smith said officers responded and took Afterbuffalo into custody. He said they discovered Afterbuffalo was driving intoxicated and had a previous domestic relationship the victim. He said the victim received minor injuries.
