About Us

Jason's Friends Foundation assists families throughout the State of Wyoming with children who suffer from brain or spinal cord tumors and childhood cancers. We work with children from birth through the age of twenty. A parent or guardian must be a Wyoming resident.
When a child is diagnosed with one of these devastating illnesses, the family's world is turned upside down. The demands and costs of day to day living needs often become insurmountable. We understand that families of cancer kids have an urgent need for financial assistance; therefore, there are no income restrictions.

When a child is diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor or childhood cancer, the family suddenly faces unexpected medical expenses, numerous road trips for medical appointments and treatments and other financial hardships such as, loss of income. Before Jason’s Friends Foundation, there was no organized help for these families in Wyoming. Jason’s Friends Foundation ensures that Wyoming families will not lose everything they own simply because they have the misfortune of having a child with cancer. Jason’s Friends Foundation provides financial support the family needs in order for the family to focus on one of the most emotional and critical challenges in life, having a child with cancer.

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist Wyoming families with children suffering from brain or spinal cord tumors and childhood cancers by providing financial assistance, advocacy, helping hands and encouragement in the face of despair.

Who We Help

How We Help

Jason's Friends Foundation provides financial support where possible and as needed by focusing on each family's individual situation. We assist with non-medical expenses, including travel expenses such as, fuel, lodging and meals while out of town for appointments and treatments. Additionally, we assist with essential household bills such as, mortgage/rent, utilities, groceries and other everyday living expenses. Our assistance is provided while the child is in treatment, ill as a result of the treatment and for recheck appointments that would require the parent/guardian to miss work and lose income. We are there to spare the family the threat of a financial crisis arising in the midst of their medical emergency.

Unfortunately, not all our kids survive their battle with cancer. Jason's Friends Foundation is also there to help the family with final expenses. To assist the family to endure the loss of their child, we provide bereavement literature and assist with bereavement counseling.

We do not duplicate services. If necessary, we will act as a liaison between the family and other organizations that provide additional financial assistance.

A Network Of Volunteers

Jason's Friends Foundation is a network of volunteers who provide support when hope is difficult to sustain and assistance is hard to accept. It is tough for families to seek out help during such a stressful time of need. Often times it is up to family and friends to make the initial contact with the foundation. Services provided can remain confidential. Our foundation provides organized community support that is otherwise unavailable in Wyoming.

There are 24 volunteers within our foundation, who work in various capacities, including family advocates and on the board of directors for the foundation. Additionally, these volunteers are very active from January through March gathering sponsors for our Bowl for Jason's Friends annual fundraiser.

A family advocate is assigned to each family. He/she is responsible for the organization of other volunteers to facilitate whatever assistance is needed. The advocate acts as the family's main contact to our foundation. They also help the family find information about the child's illness and the help available through other agencies.
