KCWY-TV News 13 is a full-service television station and the NBC/CW network affiliate serving the state of Wyoming with news, information and advertising. KCWY broadcasts nearly 20 hours of live, local news every week and has consistently been rated #1 in news by Nielsen since 2003. The station also produces other local programming and commercials with state-of-the-art equipment. We broadcast statewide with translators in Riverton and Sheridan. You will live in the boundary between high desert and mountains, with clean air and with multiple outdoor recreation activities. It's a short drive to beautiful lakes, mountains and ski areas. Casper Mountain is only 11 miles south of town. Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Devil's Tower, Independence Rock and the World's Largest Mineral Hot Springs in Thermopolis are all just a few hours away!
Responsible for maintaining on-air operations including repair and maintenance of all broadcast equipment (video, audio and computer) at the studio, at remote sites and in the engineering area. Need to have the ability to prioritize tasks and switch gears quickly based on station needs. Signal and interference management: account for on-air picture quality and performance. Respond to day-to-day operations of an active news and production television station.
Install new equipment and perform constant upgrades to existing systems with the ability to ascertain problems, evaluate
options and execute solutions. Continuous training and supervision of station staff on systems and equipment. Create documentation for repairs and system upgrades. Operate certain technical equipment such as measurement, video/audio switching, satellite reception and transmission equipment. Work cooperatively with other departments and cross-train in order to perform duties related to Technical Media Producers (TMPs). Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned.
Must be knowledgeable in computer systems and IT networking. Television engineers should have at least an Associate's Degree in broadcasting technology or in engineering. Engineers should be acquainted with current production software as well as microwave and satellite systems and Electronic News Gathering (ENG) operations. Passing a drug screening and motor vehicle records check are conditions of employment. The right candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of the repair and adjustment of technical equipment, and experience with troubleshooting to board level. The ability to analyze microwave and satellite equipment is preferred, but we will train. Electronic experience and broadcast experience preferred. Must be 21 years of age and possess a current driver’s license and be eligible to drive under Gray Television's Vehicle Safety Program. A reliable source of transportation is a must. Be able to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 pounds. SBE certification is a plus, but is not required.
