Today Wells Fargo Bank managers announce the findings from an, “expanded analysis” showing another one point four million accounts were found to be unauthorized by customers.
This comes just after a four year study from 2011 to 2015 showing a reported two point one million unauthorized accounts.
We spoke with Wells Fargo representatives who said the previous study, as well as the new one revealed three point five million unauthorized accounts.
Some of the unauthorized accounts may be from credit cards not being activated, but a majority of them were opened for customers without their consent.
There are 25 Wells Fargo branches here in Wyoming and a reported twenty-three hundred unauthorized accounts were opened from them, according to the 2011 to 2015 study.
The number of unauthorized Wyoming accounts from the new analysis have not yet been determined.
Wells Fargo representatives said, “This is another milestone for Wells Fargo to rebuild trust with customers”.
