We have a special evening planned for the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s season finale on April 29th as we welcome the Wyoming high school and college winner of our Young Artist Competition to the stage.
Then, the orchestra will end their fabulous season with Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, one of the last pieces he wrote in New York before his death in the 1940s. The work is considered a concerto for orchestra as it highlights each instrumental section in sparkling fashion.
Designed to recognize and encourage the musical artistry of young Wyomingites, the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition was held on Sunday, January 22nd at Casper College’s Wheeler Concert Hall.
The winner of the college division is Caleb Bristol, who attends the University of Wyoming. Bristol will perform the Concerto for Cello in D Minor by Edward Lalo. The winner of the high school division is Camille Barnes, from Dubois, who will perform Scene de Ballet, op. 100 by Charles Auguste de Beriot.
The concert is Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m., at the John F. Welsh Auditorium at NCHS.
We will offer the Family Pass; which gives access to dress rehearsals on the Saturday starting at noon, $10 for the entire family.
