Summer break begins for many students with the Memorial Day weekend.
Many Natrona County kids were eager to get out of school, and district staff want to ensure their students are eating well.
This year, school District Administrators partnered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide free meals to children this summer.
The Summer Food Program has been a partnership between local agency staff for the past 10 years.
"We partner with the Boys and Girls Club, the Rec. Center and the YMCA helps us to feed the kids, we feed about 800 kids a day during the summer and we start, depending on the site, the day school lets out and to right up to when school starts again,” said Mike Pyska, the Food Service Director.
The Summer meals will be served Monday through Friday beginning the week of June 7th.
