Student gets perfect score on ACT

RUSTON, La. (KNOE) -- Davis Ellis is setting the bar high for his peers at Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana, after making a perfect score on his ACT.

Ellis was honored with a plaque on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for all his hard work. However, this young man wears many hats outside of school.

He's on the varsity tennis team, a member of student council, a worship leader at his church, a volunteer at Rolling Hills Ministries and a National Executive Parliamentarian for the Future Business Leaders of America. He also happens to be a member of the National Honor Society.

When asked what drives him to be so involved, he simply gave credit to his creator.

"There's nothing in this world that matters except for God because
you can have riches and no joy," says Ellis. "I find all my purpose in him, so when I'm studying academically, the reason I want to do that
is so I can prepare myself for whatever God has in the future for me."

Ellis says he's currently preparing to take his SAT.
