Attending college is expensive; in 2015 the average student loan debt in Wyoming was over twenty-two thousand six-hundred dollars!
If you hope to relieve some of the expense the free application for federal student aid or FAFSA deadline is approaching.
The first application deadline is February 1st for those who have a better idea of what school they'd like to attend.
The first part of the application asks for demographic information.
Once that is completed there's an option to link your 2016 or 2017 IRS tax information to the application.
This makes the process easier minimizing mistakes.
If you and your student are struggling with the process there are plenty of resources to assist.
Counselor John O'Connor at KWHS shared some helpful hints, “Councilors are available to help with scholarships and different aspects of the financial aid process and then we also have lot of collages at the college who would be happy to help as well."
FAFSA money is need based, but there are plenty of other options out there to help you fund your child's education.
