LANDER, Wyo. (KCWY) - Operation Gratitude hopes to serve military members and their families in a special way, but not without your help.
Organizers of the event in Lander told News 13 stuffed animals and clothing are one way to say thank you to those who serve our country.
Event organizer Tasha Reeves shared, “Operation Gratitude is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and it is fantastic because it collects all sorts of things to send to our military in harm’s way, our first responders.”
Reeves added she has done this before, but wanted to do something more.
“I’ve done little drives in the past. But I thought this is a great opportunity for our communities to get involved.”
The drive collects items to place in personalized baskets for military members and their families.
“To send items or just words of gratitude to all of the different areas that they’re serving is a huge thing.”
Army Veteran Joe Walter shared with News 13, “It’s really neat that there’s recognition and someone says thank you for your service. I think it’s a great program myself.”
Walter added he served in the military for 6 years and is grateful for kind gestures.
“Anything that shows appreciation or gratitude or anything to help you along the way, I know myself and guys I was with, any kind of a package like that, it was appreciated.”
Organizers plan to continue the drive in the future, all just to say thank you.
Donations for the drive will be taken through July 29th at the Lander Library.
