William Quillin is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and battery.
During his Preliminary Hearing today it was reported Quillin and his accomplice, Sharon Hinkle, kicked down a door and attacked an elderly couple.
NC Sheriff Investigator Kenneth Jividen reported at the hearing, Hinkle told him the occupants of the home were, ‘their arch-nemesis from a past life and it was their job to get them’.
He continued to report they carried a black bag which was to be used for 'the old man to put the jewels in and put on the sidewalk’.
Quillin and Hinkle reportedly broke into the home, demanded access to a safe and then began beating and abusing the two occupants.
One of the occupants escaped and ran to a neighbor’s house, where the neighbor returned carrying a handgun and requested Quillin and Hinkle to leave the residence.
Investigator Jividen interviewed Quillin after the incident where he claimed he had no recollection what happened and soon after requested an attorney.
It was also reported in court Quillin was wearing a green kilt and black combat boots at the time of the home invasion. Hinkle wore a pair of sunglasses to reportedly disguise herself.
Through the course of the investigation, it was learned Hinkle had used a walking cane to attack the victims and a snow shovel was also used in the assault.
After Quillin and Hinkle left the residence, they reportedly returned to their residence and boarded themselves up from police.
The break-in caused a standoff that lasted hours and even placed Bar Nunn Elementary on lock-down.
Last week Quillin was found competent to stand trial, his bond is set was set at one million dollars.
Hinkle pled not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental illness to two counts in District Court.
