Honoring First Responders with Holiday Cheer

A unique concert sparked awareness for wounded service members over the Christmas weekend.

The Lander Volunteer Fire Department Pipe Band and Casper Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums performed a free holiday concert.

Some of the 13 performers served in combat zones and they want to bring awareness to a worthy cause.

News 13 spoke with Dr. Matt Mitchell about the performance, “First responders, military are all the ones running towards the explosions and towards the trouble and everybody else runs away. So what we're trying to do, trying to set up some way of help those people that have provided service to the community and the service to the nation."

Saturday's performance included holiday classics like “Little Drummer Boy' and 'The First Noel'.

Mitchell said donations for the Jerry Behrens were accepted and all money raised supports wounded service members and their families.

The concert was hosted by Summit Medical Center and Casper Orthopedics.
