The National Elk Refuge and the Jackson Hole Community Pathways announced that due to flooding, there’s a temporary closure on North Highway 89 Pathway, North of Jackson.
Gros Ventre River has high, fast-moving water, and created flooding conditions on the Northwest corner, near Highway 89 and highway 191.
Approximately 500 yards of adjoining Refuge land and multi-use pathways is underwater, and the flooding is visible from the highway.
Refuge Manager Glaspell said “This is a pretty dynamic situation. Due to the high snowpack and recent warm temperatures, forecasters are predicting possible increases in creek and river levels through Saturday. Safety is a top priority for everyone right now.”
If conditions change, the closure may extend around the affected location.
