Early Wednesday morning Gillette Police were asked to check on a 36 year old male headed to Gillette from Casper.
The man was believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had made suicidal statements.
Reports show officers later spotted the car and attempted to stop it. The driver refused to stop and led the officers on a pursuit about 14 miles West of Gillette.
At that time, the suspect turned around and headed back towards the city. Officers then used road spikes to disable his vehicle.
The suspect stopped on the interstate on the west edge of town and refused to get out.
About four and a half hours later he surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
Interstate 90 closed was closed due to the standoff.
