Father’s Day festivities have started for some families.
The Casper Housing Authority hosted their annual barbecue celebration at Washington Park Saturday.
The event started with a little bit of rain but that didn't stop the fun.
This is the 5th year for the "Father's Day- A Celebration of Families Event."
Organizers say the celebration spreads beyond fathers but to all families in the community.
"We just really wanted to bring the community out and celebrate families of all shapes and sizes. Whether you’re a family of one, two, three, single parent, mulit-parent house hold. We just really celebrate families in the community and just celebrate all of that today” says Lori Burns with the Casper Housing Authority.
The early Father's Day celebration was free to the public.
Offered at the event was food, face painting and even a chance to meet members from the star wars universe.
Burns says the Father's Day event is a US Department of Housing and Urban Development Initiative.
The aim of the event is to strengthen the bond between children and their fathers.
