Early Morning High Speed Chase Ends with Drug Arrest

This morning at 3:42 am Casper Police saw a Silver Toyota SUV fail to use a turn signal while turning at an intersection near S Wilson and East 15th Street.

Lights were activated as the officer initiated a traffic stop.

Reports show the driver failed to stop and accelerated away from the patrol car.

The chase was lost at E 15ht Street and S Forest, but officers continued to patrol the area. The car was spotted again traveling on S Walsh Street and East 8th street by police.

Reports show the car sped from 8th to Forrest, to Swanton to 4th, to Country Club, to 6th, down an alleyway between 6th and 7th, to Missouri, to Beverly and then turned onto 24th street.

Officers continued to pursue the car, and saw the car swerve and drive in the oncoming lane of travel many times on N. Poplar street.

Reports continue to show the chase ran into Evansville where the driver lost control of the car at Cielo Vista and Copper street. Officers blocked the street and the man, identified as 32 year old William Midgett, running from the law.

Officers gave pursuit and made contact with Midgett. Reports show he was captured at the corner of Rio Vista and Copper.

A search of the vehicle, officers found a scale, several zip top plastic bundles, and a container with suspected marijuana. They also located THC lotion, and baggies with white powdery substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Reports show Midgett was also on probation for delivery of controlled substances and he was newly charged with possession of meth and marijuana, eluding, reckless driving and eluding.
