Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody will get direct winter flights to Denver again in 2018.
The Department of Transportation Essential Air Service program chose United for winter subsidies.
United’s year round service starts March 1st.
The two year United contract with the DOT features 14 nonstop flights per week to Denver International airport.
The Essential Air Service Program subsidizes flights to and from small communities, like Cody.
Skywest serves Cody in the winter now, with daily flights to Salt Lake City.
But the D-O-T chose United’s proposal because it requested substantially less money than Skywest.
According to a release from Yellowstone Regional Airport, the D-O-T will rely on both airlines to operate un-subsidized service to Cody during the summer months.
