Fuel Pump Problems

By  |

With autumn and winter months quickly approaching, keeping your car in top shape is a must.
KB Mechanics in Casper say to refill your fuel tank when it reaches half or a quarter full to prevent damage towards the electric fuel pump.
The fuel surrounding the pump is what keeps itself cool and allows your car to run smoothly.
By adding fuel you are not affecting your mileage...but by not filling up...you could be looking at an expensive repair.
"When you get below a quarter of a tank you're causing damage to the pump. Keeping it above a quarter tank of fuel keeps the pump cool and gives it a longer life span." - Sean Sullivan, Asa Certified Master Mechanic
Sullivan says a sign that tells if your fuel pump is deteriorating is a lack of power in your car.
