A Casper grocery store is turning 100!
News 13's takes a look at the history behind the Grant Street Grocery.
It has become a staple in Casper and this year, owners are celebrating the store’s 100th anniversary.
Some say having a neighborhood store is important to the community.
Lauren Griffith said, “You know everyone in there. The ownership, everyone's friendly. Our kids can walk down and go there. They always have interesting goods and products. And the atmosphere is beautiful. And the neighborhood supports it as well."
Owners said their success and longevity is thanks to the communities support.
"Grant Street is one of the last neighborhood grocery stores in the state of Wyoming. I dare say maybe the last one. So I think it's very significant that we've had the support from the community for as long as we have,” said Lindsey Grant.
The store’s age led the owners to do a complete building renovation.
"In terms of renovating, the idea of a neighborhood grocery store has kind of changed with how many bigger grocery stores we have. The way that online shopping has really changed, it makes us look and think about we can be unique."
They hope new renovations help the store survive the next 100 years.
