A Riverton motel fire closed Federal Boulevard for hours on Wednesday.
The fire started near 11:00 am at the South Federal Inn.
Only one person besides a manager was evacuated and Riverton's Fire Chief reported there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
Captain Eric Murphy, “It’s a single level motel so they were able to get into the other rooms, find that nobody was in there, the manager did evacuate one other person that was in the hotel and at this point we don't believe that there was anybody else in the motel."
Firefighters said the fire started in the room closest to the street and it was fully engulfed in flames.
Six other rooms have extensive smoke and water damage but the fire was mostly contained to the first room.
Riverton's fire chief could not give a definite cause for the fire, sharing it could be a week until fire marshals have the answer.
News 13 learned the South Federal Inn was built in 1946 and city coding employees said they have no records for the last time the building was brought up to fire code.
