The “Purple Heart Designee Parking Signs” are about to go up soon around Casper.
These parking signs honor Purple Heart recipients, the oldest American Military decoration for the Military merit.
There will be a sign at City Hall, one at the Casper Recreation Center, and one at the Casper Events Center.
Casper was awarded these signs during the “Purple Heart Truck Run” last month.
The truck run was an 85,000 mile, 6 week long journey of a new truck, for a wounded warrior.
"And really none of us know the sacrifices that they make and what they go through to ensure that we as Americans have the liberties that we have. and that we take for granted,” said Amanda Huckabay, a City Council member.
The truck will be presented to retired Marine Corps Sergeant Marshall Kennedy at the end of this year’s Purple Heart Truck run.
During an IED attack in Afghanistan in 2011, Kennedy lost both legs, and had severe damage to his left arm.
